The NEW Rechargeable Magic Wand

By Kendra Holliday | September 4, 2015

As you know, I’m a huge proponent of the Hitachi Magic Wand. I’ve used them for years. I say “them” because I had one for five years, then passed it on to a friend and bought a new one. I also have one at each household – my partner Matthew’s and mine.

I use it twice a day, and if you do the math, that’s a really good value. They might not look sexy, but they sure are sturdy and get the job done!

We added one more to the collection – the new version, which is rechargeable and has cordless capability. Here’s a comparison shot of the old one, top, and the new one, bottom.

Hitachi Corporation is embarrassed to be associated with something that produces countless orgasms, so they have tried rebranding and are just going with the name Magic Wand. There are tons of cheaper knockoffs, but you get what you pay for. The old version costs about $50-60, and the new version is more like $120 (you can shop around for a best price). I think it’s worth the investment.

The old version just had two settings – low and high. It was loud. It was tethered to the wall.

The new version has EIGHT settings – four speeds, and four patterns. You can read product specs here. The buttons are easy to use, and you won’t accidentally switch it off like the old design.

You plug it in to charge, then can disconnect it and have freer reign. The lithium-ion battery charge lasts FOREVER.

I used to have to use it on one side of my bed, but now I can sprawl all over the place and take it anywhere! It’s also quieter. The expanded versatility is exciting. I’ve been using the new one for the past month or so and am happy with it.

It took a little getting used to – the speed settings are a little different. The second speed is akin to the original low speed, and the third speed is like the original high speed, which means you can go a little lower or higher than that. I play around with it. The patterns allow you to break away from numbness that can occur when using such a powerful device, whether you are using it for getting off or on your sore back.

I got a kick out of the user manual. It had TWO pages of precautions, including the following:

Do not put in your hair.

Do not throw in a fire.

Do not use near water.

Do not eat one hour before or after using.

I love the new head – it’s silicone, keeps very clean, does not attract pet hair like some toys do. AND my attachment fits, yay!

This is my favorite Hitachi attachment!

This morning, Matthew told me to record my orgasm for him and send to him – that’s always a fun assignment!

An article in Cracked interviewed a guy who worked at an adult video store said guys would buy these for their wives, and it got to where he hated sell them, because the couple would then get a divorce. The wife would no longer be interested in sex with their husbands!

Reminds me of an old Playboy Magazine cartoon showing a depressed looking guy coming home from work and yelling to his wife, “I’ve been replaced by a machine at work!” What he couldn’t see was that his wife was up in the bedroom using her vibrator!

So we have porn widows, and now vibrator widowers!

We use a knock off version (Iris Oyama?)… looks almost exactly the same… and we have a corded and cordless version… each only have a high and low setting… the cordless in our case is less powerful… the corded variety lasted about 5 years before needing replacing… the cordless one is now 2 years old… the battery no longer holds a charge… but it works if plugged in… the heads are about the same so attachments for the hitachi fit just fine… corded version often goes on sale for about 16 bucks… the cordless version goes on sake for about 35 bucks…

My partner and I were with another couple and he pulled a Magic Wand out of his toy bag. She’d never used one and it did indeed give her an orgasm but she said it seemed “forced” and not really satisfying. Naturally I’m flattered that she prefers me to a machine, but I wonder…it’s not that we don’t play with a lot of toys. Is there something about a powerful vibrator that is qualitatively different and inferior to a lover, even if the lover is the one using the machine? What is your experience?

I’ve found that the more, erm, RPMs something has when it hits my clit, the less powerful my orgasm is. From strongest orgasms to least powerful: getting head, masturbating with my fingers, masturbating with a regular vibrator, and lastly using a Magic Wand. So yeah, I’d say machine quality doesn’t hold a candle to lover-induced. But everyone’s pussy is different!

I definitely prefer to having someone else’s energy involved in my orgasm. There really are many different ways to enjoy it. I’d say oral is one of my favs, but I also like using the Magic Wand while my partner kisses me or sucks my breasts or whispers dirty nothings in my ear!

You bring up a good point! It can feel forced. I don’t find it be a very spiritual orgasm, but it feels good and gets the job done. The attachment adds a deep element for me.

Kendra- I would love to see the full video of using this and I’m sure the rest of your TBK regulars would too. The photo with this post is so beautiful, I can only imagine how sexy the video must be.

I have never liked the hitachi–until I got the g spot attachment. Then I used it until the vibrator died, and I still used it because the attachment was so good. I am still loving the Wahl Coil. Does anyone know where to get a new one? I heard it was redesigned, but i cannot find it. Thanks
